As President of the South Vancouver Island Tenpin Bowling Association (SVITBA), I am honored to bring over 30 years of bowling experience to this role. My involvement spans multiple levels of bowling leagues and associations, where I’ve had the privilege of serving as an executive and organizing successful tournaments. My passion for the sport and commitment to our community have driven me throughout my career. I look forward to continuing this journey with SVITBA, working together to enhance our sport and foster a vibrant bowling community for many years to come.
First, I want to congratulate our youth bowlers. With a full roster of 54 young athletes, we’re not only at maximum capacity, but we’re also setting the stage for a season filled with potential and excitement. Last year, we had over 20 of our youth bowlers qualify for provincials, and this year, we’re aiming for even more. Our youth are the future of this sport, and I’m incredibly proud of the commitment and passion they bring to the lanes.
We have an exciting tournament schedule ahead. The season kicks off with the 2nd Annual SVITBA 750 Swiss on September 29th. This event promises to be a fantastic start to our competitive calendar. Following that, in October, we have the Youth Doubles and Trios tournaments, where our young bowlers will showcase their teamwork and skills. These tournaments are just the beginning, and I encourage everyone to stay tuned for the full schedule, which will soon be available on our brand-new SVITBA website.
Speaking of the board, I want to acknowledge their hard work behind the scenes. They’ve been working tirelessly to roll out a new sponsorship program that will assist with fundraising and elevate our leagues profile. We’re excited to announce that something special is coming to lanes 13 and 14, so keep an eye out for that! And for our seasoned bowlers, who will be the first to win the $300 perfect game award this season? The competition is on!
As we embark on this new season, let’s remember what makes SVITBA truly special: our sense of community, our dedication to the sport, and our shared goal of growing and excelling together. Whether you’re a youth bowler aiming for provincials, a seasoned player looking to break personal records, or a supporter cheering from the sidelines, your participation is what makes this league thrive.
